| Moving east from the railroad offices and crew change spot in town, trains pass through the small but busy Apple Yard. Here many trains are re-classified for increased efficiency over the clogged Seattle port yards. The Merritt, Alcoa, and Spud locals are also based here as well as interchange traffic for a nearby regional railroad that runs up the Columbia to the north. In this shot we see an eastbound "Z" train just before it departs for Spokane.
